End of Watch: Sunday, October 31, 1965
On the evening of October 31, 1965 Chief Myers was struck and killed by a vehicle while directing traffic at the scene of a brush fire at the intersection of, Rickerts Rd. & N. Main St. (Rt. 313).
As the vehicle drove through the intersection it struck him from behind, throwing him approximately 35 feet. Chief Myers was taken to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries shortly before midnight.
Chief Myers had served as the borough's part-time police chief for 10 years and was an active member of the Bucks County Police Association as well as the Plumstead Fire Company and Plumstead Lions Club.
On May 13, 2008 Chief Myers was honored by having his name added to the National Law Enforcement Memorial in Washington D.C.
